THE WOMEN IN AID & DEVELOPMENT - BOARD OBSERVER PROGRAM

Overview

This program is modeled on a similar successful program presented by the Observership Program & Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). It provides a practical period of professional development working alongside the Women in Aid & Development (WiAD) Board and its Leadership Events Committee and provides networking opportunities through WiAD meetings to help develop the next generation of NGO Directors.

The Program provides Observers with practical engagement with The Women in Aid & Development Board over a 12-month period and first-hand experience of decision-making and operations. It is an intensive mentorship designed to give Observers important skills to bring to a future Boardroom career.

Over a one-year period, Observers will attend all Board and/or committee meetings by video conference as a non-voting member and learn the fundamental business and focus of a NFP Board, the roles of Board members, principles that drive decisions, financial reporting and other governance priorities.

Observers are provided with an induction program and support to enable them to participate fully in Board meetings.
